There are several options for Remote Desktop Connections for accessing your work computers. The most popular and easy options as far as usability are concerned are Teamviewer, Chrome RDC and of course the Microsoft RDC. In my experience, I have found Teamviewer and Chrome RDC to be a bit slow while accessing my work desktop(Windows 10).
I tried to to use Microsoft RDC to access my work desktop (BMED - Georgia Tech) but wasn't able to find any documentation for the same. The connection is not direct as the work computers are in Georgia Tech network. I was finally able to find the solution and have described the steps in this blog. Hope this helps a few people. I have directed the post for users on ad.gatech.edu but hope similar steps would be used for other networks as well. I am using a Windows 10 laptop to connect to a Windows 10 desktop in the network.

- You should have a working VPN. The easiest way to set it up is to visit https://anyc.vpn.gatech.edu/. Detailed help for the steps can be found at https://faq.oit.gatech.edu/how-do-i-install-cisco-anyconnect-client-windows-10 .
- Connect to VPN using your credentials.
- Now to connect the work computer you should have some details from the work computer.
- Computer Name : Go to Control Panel > System and Security > System
- This pic :
- 'Full computer name' is the computer name. Eg: gburdell3.ad.gatech.edu
- User Name : It is your gatech login id along with the network. Eg : ad\gburdell3
- Once you know this information, you can proceed to next step.
- Windows comes with installed Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection. On your laptop search for "Remote Desktop" and select "Remote Desktop Connection"
- Fill in the details as we obtained previously.
- Once you select "Connect" you might be prompted to accept certificates. Once done you should now be able to connect to your work computer.
If this works for you let me know. If you face any issues leave a comment and I will try to get back.
