The two giant heads of comic world, Marvel and DC has been ruling over comic worlds for decades. But did you know that us Indians also have our own superhero franchise as well?
Yes I am talking about Raj Comics which was launched in the year 1986 by Rajkumar Gupta. Of course Raj Comics has not been seen in any live action movie and certainly has not hit the big screen yet to the best of my knowledge. Some of them might seem a little rip off of characters from Marvel or DC but yet they are unique in their own way. After all, Marvel and DC has been ripping off characters from each other for many years but more of that later, because in this article I am about to introduce you to 5 of Raj Comics characters and their abilities.
1. Nagraj
Nagraj means the snake king. He is the son of King Takshakraj and Rani Lalita who ruled over the kingdom of Takshaknagar. Nagraj gained his godly powers under some unfortunate events which can be termed as mythological (you can look for more details under this link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nagraj ) but there are no limits to the awesomeness of his powers. Some of his powers are superhuman strength, ageless, super healing factor, shape shifting, teleportation, telekinesis, telepathy, venomous breath, millions of microscopic shape shifting snakes in his body which allows him to shoot snakes from his arms etc.
2. Doga
Doga is a sociopath who has no mercy for criminals. He had a very troublesome childhood as an orphan as he was abducted by a notorious dacoit. He had witnessed endless horrors as a child and ended up as a sociopath. He took up the alias of Doga to seek revenge against his enemies who eliminated his foster family (of course after he escaped from the dacoit he had a foster family) due to some rivalry ( for more of his origin story, look under this link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doga_(comics) ). Though he is a normal human being without any superpower, his immense training at the gym and perfection of many martial arts lead him to become undefeated at hand to hand combat. He is also able to communicate with dogs and seek their help when needed. His hatred of crime and lone wolf style of fighting criminals has earned him one man army tag.
3. Anthony
Anthony Gonzalves is an undead entity who was tortured brutally to death by his rivals upon his success. This character can be seen with a crow alongside him which is said to be his pet crow (called Prince) from when he was alive. Anthony comes back from the dead to provide swift justice to wrongdoers. His powers include flight, superhuman strength like Nagraj. He cannot be harmed in any possible humane way but his corpse regenerates only after the death of his enemy and until then his corpse remains mutilated. 4. Shakti
Shakti is the alter-ego of Chanda, a simple lady whose body is used as a host by Goddess Kali in times. Chanda who was a household wife discovered that her husband was the one who had killed her daughters and her rage and pain caused Goddess Kali to come down to earth and use her body as a host to serve justice. Basically, Shakti is the symbol of women power. Her powers include superhuman strength, emit incredible amount of energy and melt any object with it and mold it into anything she desires. She also has a third eye on her forehead which opens at extreme moments of anger and destroy the cause of her anger. She can also fly at the speed of light. 5. Super Commando Dhruva
Super Commando Dhruva is one of the sharpest mind in the Raj Comics. He is the son of circus artists Shyam and Radha. in a series of criminal events his parents were killed when he was young (visit link to find out more: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Commando_Dhruva ). He was adopted by superintendent of police, Rajan Mehra. He started fighting crime at a very young age and probably youngest of all the Raj Comic characters. Since he was born and brought up in a circus, he has mastered acrobatics and also is an expert in martial arts. He is a normal human being without any superpower but he is very skilled in almost every field. Much like batman, he has a utility belt which has many useful gadgets. He can also communicate with animals which he developed while he was in the cirus and can hold his breath upto 20 minutes underwater.
