There are a lot of Cons and Pros for the Windows 10 S.

The Better Ones

Battery - A Capable One

Microsoft ensures us that Windows 10 S will give us a better battery life than Windows 10. The Surface Laptop, which was released along with Windows 10 S, promises a battery life of 14.5 hours on a single charge, while still having a 13.5" 1080p touchscreen display.
Performance - The Biggest Boost
Microsoft has informed that Windows 10 S can boot up in just 15 seconds as it contains lesser hardware configurations than Windows 10. You can also install Windows 10 S via a USB cable, which is a huge time saver.
Compatibility - Just as Windows 10
You can install Windows 10 S in your Wndows 10 PC - Simple as that.
Core is Windows 10 Pro

Windows 10 S can say that its predecessor is Windows 10 Pro, not Windows 10 Home. There are some Pro features in Windows 10 S just as there are in Windows 10 Pro.
Lower Price

Microsoft wants to catch the eye of schools by providing Windows 10 S as a free update for Windows 10 Pro users. And if they are dissatisfied, they are given a free upgrade to Windows 10 Pro. After that, it costs $50.

The Worse Ones

Bye Bye Desktop Programs

Windows 10 S will not run any software that you download other than from the Windows Store. That means no other browsers, games, etc. and you will be stuck with the store, which is more of a dustbin.

Only Bing - No Google

Microsoft has also announced that users will not be able to use any other search engine than Bing within Windows 10 S (aside from browsing to Google.com).

Byeline

Windows 10 S is mainly aimed at schools and colleges, targeting students and teachers. It offers high performance and security and it is also available at a low cost. But the worst problem is that it cannot run any Desktop programs. Let us see whether it will be a success or just a flop like the Windows RT.
